To identify what you have, check the silver label on the motor housing, not the remote or control box. The part number prefix tells us the bracket series. DIY or Call Us?

There is a safe middle ground here, and then there is work that belongs on a truck with a 220-volt welder and a gate jack.

What you can check yourself: bolt tightness on the arm bracket with a 9/16-inch socket, visible crack lines in the paint at weld joints, and whether the gate leaf lifts by hand when unlatched. If it lifts hard or grinds, the hinge is binding, not just loose.

What goes wrong with DIY: gate leaves are heavier than they look, and a 12-foot iron swing gate can pivot on a cracked hinge faster than you can step back. Re-welding a load-bearing bracket without removing stress from the gate frame almost guarantees the new weld will crack in six months. And the high-torsion spring assist on some FM700 installations stores enough energy to cause serious injury if the bracket fails during work.
